Tuesday Night Knit

There will be no Tuesday Night Knit on Nov. 24th.

Make sure to stop from by 6-9p.m. so you don’t miss any of the fun! There will be specials and drawings for the evening and we’ll have scarf kits made up for you to purchase, they are always fun and easy to start your holiday projects.

Knit-a-Long Dates Rescheduled

The meeting dates for the knit-a-long have been rescheduled. The meetings will now be Nov. 3, 10 and 17. These are all Tuesdays and will be held from 7:00p.m–8:30p.m. The first two meetings will be at Lizzie Ann’s. Take a peek at how Tina is doing with the project.

Michigan Breast Cancer Coalition/”Knittin’ in the Mitten”

The Michigan Breast Cancer Coalition (MIBCC) is launching a fundraising event for knitting shops across Michigan. The “Knittin’ in the Mitten” event will start October 15th and runs through Dec 15th, 2009. Kits will be made available for knitters. The first kit includes information about the MIBCC and pink yarn with a pattern to make a 6” square.  These squares will be returned to MIBCC at the end of the event and will be sewn together to make blankets to give to cancer patients across Michigan. Some squares will also be sent to the state legislature to remind them to vote in favor of funding for Breast Cancer Research. Each kit will cost $10 and will be ideal for beginners.
The second kit will include MIBCC information and the yarn and pattern to knit a “Chemo Cap” for a cancer patient.  The donation is $20.  This kit would be for those who would like more of a challenge.  Caps would later be distributed to patients in your area with a card attached that states which knitting shop it came from.  The blankets will also have an attached card when donated to individuals.
We are being asked to please help promote this event by telling others about “Knittin’ in the Mitten.” Please join us here at Lizzie Ann’s for “Knittin’ in the Mitten,” and make a difference one stitch at a time!

Knit-a-Long with Tina

Tina has chosen a vest from the Colourscape Book as the project for the knit-a-long. There will be a kick off party as well as three meetings at Lizzie Ann’s to get everyone together in person to see how everyone is doing on the project. Those dates are: Oct. 28th, Nov. 4th & 11th from 7:00p.m.-8:30p.m

We still accept hats for patients going through chemotherapy. If you have a hat that you would like to donate we would happily add it to our collection. If you are a patient or a family member of a cancer patient please feel free to stop by and pick up a hat of your choice.

Attention – The back parking lot has been roped off due to the construction of the two buildings next to September Bride. The back door to Lizzie Ann’s is still open and you can still get in the shop that way. We still want to see you!

Massages

The last Tuesday of the month, Sept. 29th, we will have Courtney here for chair massages from 7-9. They will be $1 per minute. Please sign up ahead of time. What a wonderful way to wrap up September!
